Get hung up on tea with Hanger Tea

Why can’t tea be fashionable?

Amplifyd from www.yankodesign.com

If the Hanger Tea were to be submitted as an entry to tea-packaging-awards (if such a thing existed), I say it would win hands down! I can’t think of a better or more obvious way to pack teabags than this hanger & T-shirt design. It’s a funny take on how the simple motion of hanging a used teabag on the rim of your cup, be done. Color-coded for different varieties, the hangers are rather cute and so are the tea-shirts!

Make Milk Foam in Your Microwave for Gourmet Froth at Home

Wish you could get a good froth on your coffee but don’t want to shell out for a frother? Cooking weblog The Kitchn details how to make your own gourmet froth at home with your microwave and a mason jar.

The Kitchn walks us through the process of heating and shaking your filled mason jar, to create maximum foam.

  • Find a jar with a lid and fill it with as much milk as you normally like in your coffee (or other hot beverage!). The milk should fill the jar no more than half way to allow room for the foam.
  • Shake the jar with the lid on as hard as you can until the milk has become frothy and doubled in size. This takes us about 30 seconds.
  • Take the lid off and microwave for another 30 seconds. The foam will rise to the top of the milk and the heat from the microwave will help stabilize it.
  • Pour the milk into your coffee using a spoon to hold back the foam. Then scoop the foam on top!

Q and A: Caffeine in Coffee vs. Tea?

Hey, I thought everyone knew this but here’s something to dispel any misunderstandings. I have never been able to get much of a buzz from tea but occasionally (like when someone makes really nasty tasting coffee or only decaf available) I will go for an Earl Grey Tea. I usually use two tea bags!

    QUESTION:
I’ve heard that coffee has less caffeine than tea. Is that true?
    ANSWER:
No, that isn’t true. Coffee actually has about twice as much caffeine as tea.
Different sources quote different figures for the amount of caffeine in tea and coffee, but in each case the proportion remains about the same, with coffee at twice the amount.
According to the Mayo Clinic, the figures are as follows:
Black tea, 8 ounces (oz.) - 47 millegrams
Black coffee 8 ounces (oz.) - 95 millegrams

    Latte Art?

I always love the little design on the top of my lattes. It doesn’t ally look that hard to do….tell us or show us your most impressive designs.

    Amplifyd from www.examiner.com

Coffee 101: What is latte art?

Latte art is an image or pattern created in the silky foam of a latte. Often this is achieved with nothing more than a steady hand pouring the steamed milk out of the pitcher. This is “free pour” latte art. This tulip is an example of that (photo by journeyscoffee). Other times, the barista “draws” details with a pointy instrument.

Don’t be fooled by how easy he makes it look. Latte art is difficult to master. Not only do the espresso and milk need to be perfectly prepared, the barista must pour the milk at a consistent rate and rock the pitcher back and forth at the same time. Competitions are held in cities all over the world: DC, Seattle, Vegas, Chicago, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Antwerp, Cologne, and Bern to name a few. The prize can be thousands of dollars, or it can be a contest in which the entry fee is $5 and the winner takes all.

So, don’t deprive your soul. Delight your eye as well as your taste buds the next time you get yourself a latte.

What does your coffee say about you?

Tell me what kind of coffee you drink and I’ll tell you what kind of person you are? Is there any truth to this variation on the old line? Share your thoughts - click the comment button or tweet us a reply at http://www.twitter.com/thirstyfishinfo

    Amplifyd from www.brewed-coffee.com

coffee_expresso_0x8fI guess that’s a variation of the old saying “tell me who your friends are…” – you know how that one goes. But is there really any truth to this coffee preference thing?

Mr Ronchi said well-dressed corporate types usually opted for an espresso or black coffee with no sugar, while patrons who liked to laze in the sun outside Campos ordered a latte.

What’s more, ice coffees and frappacinos are popular in the warmer months, but almost always among young women.

“those who drink short blacks are often ambitious, goal-driven and no-nonsense, while cappuccino drinkers were probably witty and classy. The humble latte is often drunk by mums or 20-something students, while the heart-starting espresso conveys sophistication.”

You see what I am getting at here…? So what coffee do you drink again?
